Entre todos los libros que abordan este tipo de temas debo de decir que este es el mejor de todos y por mucho.

La forma en que esta escrito, que quien lo escribio sea un hombre de guerra y de Dios lo hace tener tantos y matices y tonos; las experiencias de las demás personas que se ilustran lo vuelven un libro que seguro encajara con todos de alguna manera y estemos o no en este problema en algún momento nos sentiremos identificados.

Still, delving into the young woman’s background reveals that she was, indeed, born in a bordello; and she has become the owner, whether legally or not, of controlling interest in a gold mining conglomerate.

Further investigation finds that she is sharing residence with an older man, Gabriel Finnegan, while at the same time becoming betrothed to one of the city’s pillars of society, insipid and ineffectual Josiah Kingsley. Josiah is neither too insipid nor ineffectual, however, to demand complete financial and emotional control over his vacillating bride-to-be upon their marriage.

The lady herself is proving to be an enigma. Finished with what he can, John sends his report, per arrangement, to Noah Harper via Pony Express. San Francisco’s attractions beckon, and he is able to explore the area, getting acquainted with townspeople and businesses. Nice enough, he decides. Maybe he’ll relocate here, settle down, start his own agency. Meanwhile, he has dealt with any complications arising from the Powell case and considers it closed.

Until Noah Harper unexpectedly shows up, armed with all of John’s information and spoiling for a fight.

That’s when the complications really begin.

Taking the High Road is a series of 10 books detailing the adventures and exploits of the Yancey Brothers.

Ten boys were born to a plantation owner in Charleston SC.

The boys were coming of age as the Civil War erupted between the states. The older boys went into law enforcement, while the younger boys generally took different paths.

This series of ten stories follows the lives of all ten boys, from 1860 to 1879.

It documents the love affairs and weddings of the first nine boys, a few of whom who thought marriage wasn’t in their future.

As the story progresses, the Yancey Boys always find themselves in the right place at the right time to build considerable wealth.

Two of the stories are prefaced on a mystery that must be solved. This allows the younger brothers to call on their older brothers in law enforcement to join the storyline.

In the last book, the oldest son, from the second generation gets married, after taking employment with the family’s extended business corporation.

The women who join the Yancey boys in marriage are typically strong, mischievous women, who can typically hold their own in a bar fight or in sticky situations with the criminals of the Wild West.

You will love these characters, as they are people who have a strong character, and they are committed to do the right thing, no matter the situation.

Exciting western inspirational romance

I haven't read a western outlaw romance in a long time so Taking the High Road was a treat. This first book in the "Western Mystery Romance Series" gets off to a great start and if the rest of the series continues to be this well done then this is a series worth adding to the Kindle. It is full of mystery and suspense, with exciting characters who are ready to embrace love and adventure. The family connections and dispute over the inheritance creates the perfect drama to go along the romance. John Yancey has his hands full trying to solve this western mystery, and I can't wait to see where this series goes next.

Good wins in the end. What could be better

Loved this book. A new author to me and one I will seek in future. I do not reveal plots, but I did enjoy the story line. She is in a situation, not of her making, and does the best she can with what is dealt to her. She and friends, move across the country to start again after her mother dies. unaward of a step brother who is no one's friend, least of all, hers. She begins building a life of purpose, but brother want revenge, for no reason except he is a nasty piece of business. He follows her to take her birthright from her just because he thinks he can. In the process, a Pinkerton man is hired, and Yancy does his best, but as he investigates, he more and more realizes that brother is not a nice person. Thankfully, she is protected by her friends and her "uncle" and finally Yancy.

Just a really nice story where good wins in the end - as it should and when reaching the end of the story, one sighs and says "Well done".

A new author to me and I will be interested in other stories by this author.

Really enjoyed the author's views. The arguments against Calvinism are strong. I would suggest reading the book "Against Calvinism" to fill in any of the gaps found in the book - which are few.

The first book Paranoia, is a fun and entertaining book with a twist at the end and is well worth reading.
The next book Company Man is a very exciting tale, reminding me of Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, in a modern setting. Full of tension, solid believable characters and twists and turns.

As I'm not agreeing that someone should have *9* husbands and this book is in the young adult section I have read and bought every book in the series and LOVE it. As a parent to 4 children ages 16 down to 11, I WOULD allow all of them to read these stories. As these are stories and we all read fairy tales to our daughters and don't think twice about it. These 16 and 19 year olds are not normal. The main character is an abused teenage girl who is saved by teenaged boys who are apart of a secret "society". Each boy is different and offers different things all nine of them rolled up into one would be the most perfect guy on the planet. There is No sex in any of them. And Sang upon meeting the boys have never been kissed. The way the boys treat her like she is a princess is a fairy tale in itself. My daughter is 16 and reads the stories right along with me and loves them. Most children know these are fiction and are not real life. Have you ever read other books out there tagged targeted for children at least in this book my daughter learns how a boy should treat her verse how they really are, cheaters abusers and liars (not all and most want sex) and I would allow my boys to read this so they know how to treat a girl.

Read the book on Collins' terms, and he proves an engaging conductor of an exegetical tour of Plato's writings about a civilization on an island in the Western Ocean that colonized bits of Europe but vanished when a natural catastrophe befell its homeland. Collins discounts the proposition that the 1500 B.C. eruption of Thera, which coincided with the decline of Minoan civilization, underlies the Atlantis story. Instead, he fields a blizzard of propositions; these, in a nutshell, propose that a Phoenician colony in Iberia might have had transoceanic contact with the Olmec and other Meso-American civilizations. A most enjoyable work on a fascinating subject

The ever elusive Atlantis has never failed to arrest the imagination of many throughout the ages. In this latest and impressively researched work, Andrew Collins traverses the evidence available in order to unravel the 3 prime mysteries - whether Atlantis indeed once existed, its probable location in the modern world, and how it all came to an end.
Starting with Plato's Timaeus and Critias, Collins ploughs through a formidable mass of ancient and not-too-ancient literature to garner evidence about the lost land and its probable topography. He then applies the result with meticulous care (and with much erudite discussion in the process) to all the prime contenders for the location of Atlantis to determine which in fact is the most likely candidate for the legendary realm. He then seeks to corroborate the findings with legends from both sides of the Atlantic (in particular those from central America) as well as other more scientifically verifiable facts, such as information gleaned from ancient relics, the presence of tabacco in Egyptian mummies and some distinctive method for dyeing cotton. Having established the location of the lost Atlantis, the author completes his theory by examining the sort of catastrophe that brought about the end of the advanced civilisation there as well as the possible fate of those who managed to escape from it.
What makes this highly readable book doubly commendable is that the author has at all times followed the available evidence instead of making wild guesses and unsubstantiated propositions in order to advance his theories. Such a scholarly approach has made the discourse much more convincing than many other books written about lost civilisations. And if Collins's conclusions are not absolutely compelling, they nevertheless are very well argued and presented and warrant serious consideration by ancient historians. Besides, all those materials amassed by Collins for the book are already by themselves of great value to those interested in the subject. David Rohl's Introduction is also very illuminating and provides enlightening remarks about the methodology used by many alternative historians. A most enjoyable work on a fascinating subject. Highly recommended!

In this insightful reappraisal of the Atlantis myth Collins begins by telling us that it was not just Plato who wrote of Atlantis -- informing us that the Egyptians knew of more than one earlier rise and fall of civilization -- but that a contemporary historian, Theopompus, citing a different source, wrote of an immense continent with great cities that surrounded the outside world. Quite rightly, Collins dismisses small islands in the Mediterranean and the mid-Atlantic ridge as possible sights for the sunken continent, and he eventually concludes that the continent itself did not sink, although its coastal cities must have perished. Why? Best book on the subject

There are two pathways to explore Atlantis. You can analyze what little empirical evidence exists or you can chase after the physic sources such as Edgar Cayce and Madame Blavatsky. This author stays entirely on the former path and has produced one of the most complete and intelligent books to examine this topic based on all the evidence that can be found. It is exceeded only by Hancock and Bauval's outstanding "Message of the Sphinx," which provides evidence for an ancient civilization by examining the writings and monuments of ancient Egypt. This book has no overlap with "Message" providing its own new insights from a different perspective.
He's done his homework, discussing Plato's writings and those of other ancient historians at length, including obscure sources for providing evidence of ancient catastrophe and contact between the Phoencians and possibly the Romans with the New World. He examines ancient Egyptian, Carthaginian, Phoencian, Greek, Mayan, Olmec, and Aztec sources. He discusses the linguistics of the word Atlantis and Antilia (ie, Antilles) and the exploration of the early Europeans such as Prince Henry the Navigator.
He concludes convincingly that an ancient civilization such as Atlantis was located in the Carribean, most likely Cuba (the Bahamas or Hispanola). The one criticism is that the narration is a bit dry, and some tangents are drawn out, making for tedious reading in places. This is a book for someone with a strong interest in finding a scientific basis for Atlantis.

Excellent, Exciting, Couldn't put it down!

Although I have an extensive library of Datsun Z Car related books in hard cover and paper back, I found this book extremely enjoyable. Even though, Brian Long is a British writer, often if not permanently living in Japan, he provides a worldwide perspective that is often missing in most books about the Datsun Z Car. He seems a master at uncovering facts in the history of the Datsun and the Z Car previously known to only a very few Datsun insiders. Within its cover, there are great pictorial representations of Datsun cars, many not seen often. It is an excellent write up about the Datsun car history, the early Datsun Z car as it progressed to the touring GT becoming the 280ZX and first generation 300ZX ('84-'89), to the Super Car it became in the 1990's with the 300ZX Twin Turbo. The author outlines the racing efforts of some well known drivers with some great photos. Some advertising photos of the period are also captured within the pages of this marvelous book. I have had and continue to have a love affair with the Datsun Z Car, as I have owned over 200 of the early 240Z's, but Brian Long's Book on the 280ZX to the 300ZX, gave me a greater appreciation for the car and the history behind it. It was thoroughly enjoyable reading, and a welcome addition to my collection of Datsun Z Car books. I couldn't stop reading it to the end. Whenever possible I spend some time reviewing the chapters on racing and design work history, over and over again. I never get tired of it. This book and his companion book entitled, 'Datsun Z, From Fairlady to 280Z', are probably the only two Datsun Z Car books a person really needs, although there are several other good ones. But it is of course, nice to own them all.

Datsun 280ZX, Nissan 300ZX

This book is a "must have" for enthusiasts of the legendary Datsun / Nissan Z-car. Brian Long does a good job describing the continuing story of the original Datsun Z-car, as it evolved from a sportscar into a GT and finally into a supercar. The book starts with a recap of the history of Datsun / Nissan and the original 240Z, 260Z, 280Z series, which Long covered in his earlier work - Datsun Z.
As the title suggests, this book picks up on the Z-car story with in-depth coverage of the 280ZX (the second generation Z-car) and both generations of the 300ZX, including the 1990s Twin Turbo supercar which the Z-car finally evolved into. Long also describes the various versions of the 280ZX and 300ZX which Datsun / Nissan sold in different part of the world. This gives the reader a more comprehensive picture and a real global understanding of the Z-car. Long's book is wonderful reading, and the text is supplemented with excellent photographs and illustrations, including pictures of Nissan's original marketing materials for the 280 and 300ZX.
If you are a fan of the Z-car, if you are a member of a Z-club, if you own a Z-car, then this book definitely belongs in your bookcase.

The definitive 280/300ZX guide

This book has pride of place on my bedside table at the moment. Patiently waiting on the real thing (a 1990 Twin Turbo 300ZX to ship from Japan). It's the sort of book that an enthusiast can read and refer to time and time again.

Mine was a second hand copy but virtually new condition. Brian Long does an excellent job on the history of Nissan/Datsun. And for 280ZX and 300ZX owners lots of interesting photos, period advertisements and background info.
