A handy reference

This is like a Wikipedia article in book form. It doesn't have as much discussion as I would like, but it does have a lot of tables summarizing & comparing the forms that exist in several Romance languages. As such, it is a good reference.

Making Learning a new Romance language easier and more fun.

Excellent book. I am trying to learn Italian and this book has made the task easier and much more enjoyable. The author's (Joshua Rudder) YouTube videos on the same topic are also great. He is so easy to follow I have just ordered another of his books "Native Grammar: How Languages Work", again after watching his videos on this broader topic.

this is a unique book that showcases that so called vulgar latin is really based around relationships with normal people instead of endless repetitive odes to the "gods"

Must have book!

This book is the best Introduction to massage therapy I Have found so far. The title says it all really; Basic Clinical Massage Therapy Integrating Anatomy and Treatment. The book is extremely practical and demystifies massage using its very functional integrated approach. If you want to become really good at massage this might be the only book you may ever need. I am in massage school and the techniques covered in this book very plainly and easy to understand is beyond the scope of many of the soon to be graduating students. Even if your just a layperson who wants to get good at massage this is the book for you, It maybe somewhat technical but the format makes it very easy to understand and apply. This Is my favorite anatomy book for massage also because of the integration directly into application and very clear and easy to understand photos and illustrations. This book will give you an extremely solid base to use your own creativity or using other mediums to learn new techniques to work the same areas for example the use of forearms, elbows, massage tools, knees, feet. The book presents things in a basic easy to understand format but In reality they are covering many advanced techniques that work trigger points and traditional shiatsu points in a flowing method of application with out directly specifying the location of trigger points. The beauty is the simplicity of its presentation and only once moving on to more "advanced" learning materials such as trigger points will you realize how much you really learned from this book. My suggestion would be to get a foam roller, a ma roller, and one of those curved stick self massage tools along with the Trail guide to the body trigger point manual along with this book. The self massage tools can help you to understand how to propperly apply many of the techniques covered in the book.

This book is my favorite anatomy/palpation manual for massage and covers a variety of techniques for application as well. The construction of the book is high quality and built to last. Get this book You will not regret it. But you may regret the other massage books you purchased before this one.

A must have for clinical massage practitioners

After using the Trail guide and all its gadgets I thought I wound not need another anatomy book. This book should be on the schools list of required texts. It really helped me with the details. I am so excited because I can finally break the body down into segments-if I may call it that- and learn and practice the proper techniques required for each. I am also able now to create cheat charts indicatig attachments, origins and how they corelate with regards to appropriate treatment choices. This book gives me the confidence not only to work on my clients, but the ability to communicate with them confidently, honestly and Knowledgably. Thanks again to the LWW Massage Therapy & Bodywork Team.

Really descriptive book

Im not taking any massage therapy course, so I am reading this to try and learn some techniques on my own. This book is really descriptive and gives plenty of techniques, visuals, and informative bits. I have has some previous experience with anatomy and physiology, so I am familiar with most of the terms. That being said, this may not be the best book for an introduction to massage therapy. Also, if you are at all able to use this book while practicing massage on someone, I would highly recommend it because it almost gives step by step instructions and you would be able to retain the material much better that way.

Amazing debut

Peter Storey's "Human Nature" is one of most amazing debut collections for a young author. The first story, "Day Ten" is very reminiscent of Raymond Carver, yet Storey has an outstandingly unique and original voice. This is especially evident in "Train to Where?", which wants to break away from narrative fiction and into poetry in some places. He has a way with composition, capturing realistic detail in a way that makes reading an experience of all the senses and yet at the same time deftly employs metaphors in the service of description so that the settings are at once realistic and incredibly dreamlike -- the "Dynastic Empire of Juniper" in "Day Ten" or the thunderstorm in "Train to Where" are supreme examples. Many philosophers throughout history have reagarded human nature as fundementally flawed or fallen and therefore requiring the state or church to restrain its destructive and anti-social tendencies, but even they would derive great enjoyment from Peter Storey's "Human Nature."

Some solid short stories

Stumbled on this title looking for post-modern short fiction, was drawn in by its low price, simple description and unintentional pun in the author's name. I liked the diverse settings -- Brooklyn, Wisconsin and a pre-historic forest -- and the variability of the language Storey used. Also, "The Crushing Futility of Everyday Existence" may be the funniest short story ever written since "The Overcoat".

MICHAEL H. TIRGAN, MD is a medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment and research of keloid disorder. He began seeing keloid patients through his oncology practice and soon realized the need for highly trained specialists to treat this deeply misunderstood and complex disorder of the skin.
In 2008, Dr. Tirgan began focusing his practice on the non-surgical treatment of keloid and now is the only physician in North America with a pure specialty practice that is limited solely to the treatment of individuals with this disorder. He has treated approximately 900 keloid patients, adults and children, with all types of keloid.
He is an avid researcher of keloid and has published peer-reviewed articles on his findings. His dedication and sole focus on helping keloid patients, coupled with his vast clinical experience, have allowed him to develop unparalleled expertise in treating this complicated disorder.
Dr. Tirgan is an attending physician at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital and Rockefeller University Hospital in New York, NY. He is also a clinical instructor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

A must read for all those who suffer from keloid disorder

Dr. Michael Tirgan really explains how the keloid disorder is more complex than people realize. I enjoyed how he explained the existence of many different types of keloids: flat keloids, nodular keloids, linear keloids, guttate keloids and many more. His expertise and extensive research in keloid disorder makes him the go to person for this complex medical disorder. Thank you Dr. Tirgan for exposing how keloid disorder is underfunded and not many medical professionals specialize in keloid treatment. I first hand know that having keloid disorder is much more than a cosmetic matter and that popular suggested treatments for keloids actually may make the condition worse.

A very misleading title..

A very misleading title. There are no "secrets". It's a short book, poorly written, that gives you generic information about keloids. The research and field is severely underfunded and he believes people should raise awareness about the genetic disorder. Sure, this book does just that. Raise awareness. But, I want to know how to effectively treat the hypertrophic and keloid scars on my body. When to seek professional treatment? When over the counter treatments may be effective. What kinds of over the counter treatments to avoid? For instance, one treatment of cryotherapy on two keloid scars severely devastated my skin and left two larger textured scars on my arms, now twice their original size.
I spent about half an hour scouring for anything useful, but it was just a waste of time.

Honoring the voices of all and moving to a better future

Bob Corcoran spoke to an audience at Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies (1740 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Washington, DC) on Tues. March 9, 2010. The Conflict Prevention & Resolution Forum organized "Conflict in Our Own Backyard: Prospects for Racial Reconciliation." I listened carefully as he reported the work of Hope in the Cities - honest conversation and sustained partnerships across boundaries that often separate us from one another. The author and his courageous and inspiring co-leaders at Initiatives of Change have brought racial healing in Richmond, Virginia. Since Richmond was a major slave market, the capital of the Confederate States of America, and a center of "Massive Resistance" to the Brown v. Board of Education decision in 1954, which ended the "separate but equal" injustice in U.S. education, this record of achievement confounds skeptics. I find his historical narrative almost flawless and am inspired by his chapters 16-20, which summarize lessons learned and practical tools and skills for staying at the table during painful conversations. I will close this rave with one truth Bob retells: forgiving is not forgetting; it is letting go of the hurt. (p. 262).

What a wonderful resource and inspiration for anyone wanting to build better community relations. A host of stories that show what can be done as we accept responsibilty for ourselves and people like us rather than blaming or pointing the finger at others. As someone who lived for a year in Richmond I am amazed at what is being achieved.

Truly Inspirational and Educational - A Must Read

A must read for anyone interested in learning more about community development and how best to foster positive change through intelligent dialogue. We can all learn a great deal and draw a tremendous amount of inspiration from the lessons to be learned from this book. Should be required reading for all community leaders. I can only hope that my city would look to Richmond's growth and begin to implement similar change in my community.

Random Access History

For each day of the year, "365: Your Date With History" offers up one or two short essays and a brief list of other significant events that happened on that paticular day. Each well-written essay describes a significant event (a birth or a death, a battle or the passage of a law) and then explains what flowed from or caused the event. I've really had fun with this book. Each morning over breakfast, I read the entries for the day and learn a little bit more about history. The subject changes constantly, so I never get bored, and I can always leap ahead to see what happened on my birthday, or my wife's birthday, or our anniversary or whatever.

Since "365" was published in England in 2001, the publishers have issued several books in a similar spirit: 366: More Great Stories from History: More Great Stories from History for Every Day of the Year (Icon 366); 365: Tales of War: Great Stories from Military History for Every Day of the Year; and Best of Times, Worst of Times: 365 Great Stories from Modern History (Icon 365). The last of these picks up where "365" and "366" leave off, focusing on historical events since World War 2.

There are a number of similar books that are similar to the 365/366 series. All are more lightweight than "365," but they are still entertaining: Whitely, "On This Date . . ." (2002); ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY (1999); More On This Day in History; Donaldson & Donaldson, "The Book of Days" (1979) (eccentric and quirky); and What Time Of Day Was That?: History by the Minute (2001).

For a more encylopedic and accordingly less readable approach to the subject, try The History Channel's "Today in History: A Day by Day Review of World Events"--this book has a lot more entries than "365," but it lacks Marsh and Carrick's elegant little essays.

On the whole, I highly recommend "365" as a thoroughly enjoyable way of boning up on history, one day at a time.
