Cleverly written, age appropriate book that's enjoyable for kids.

There's very little out there on introducing the idea of engineering - a field characterized by one of the highest job satisfaction levels - to younger kids. Most have no idea of the possibility of pursuing this career pathway until very late (often too late) in life. This book does a great job of addressing that issue. The authors apply classic techniques involving humor and repetition and surprise to make this a fun and effective book for younger children. My four year olds were captivated, and they participated readily in the book, answering the questions aloud. My eight year old was also interested, since there's a surprising amount of information tucked into this book. This is a very well done piece of work that will be of great benefit to the next generation of little engineers. If you're a parent interested in exposing your children to potential careers that can lead to lifelong fulfillment and service, this book belongs on your kid's bookshelf.

Great, Educational Book for All Ages

This is such a good book on so many levels. As an educator, I am always searching for books that incorporate many subject areas. I read Engineering Elephants to my students to hit learning objectives in reading, writing, science, and math. This book is engaging and shows readers how good writers use a fun writing voice. This book can easily be used to teach fact/opinion, summarization, and descriptive text structure. Many science and math concepts are covered such as velocity, momentum, and problem solving. As a parent, my 18 mth old loves to read this book! She enjoys the fun illustrations and elephant characters. The rhyming pattern makes this a very fun read for everyone! Highly recommend this book be added to your home and school libraries!

My daughter insists on reading this book before bedtime!

My 7 year old daughter loves the illustrations in this book, and she's always finding something new in each page. This is a bedtime favorite for her, and she's already talking about wanting to become an engineer (she's a 2nd grader). This is a playful, yet very informative entree into the world of engineering. My daughter has asked a lot of questions about what engineers can make and create, and I'm so glad that we found this book. It doesn't disappoint, and the price is right, too!
