About the Author
Guntram B. Mueller received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. He has taught calculus many times and is very familiar with the typical strengths and weaknesses in the backgrounds of his students. That experience is what guided him, in cooperation with Dr. Ron Brent, in writing the Just-in-Time series. His advice? Buy the book! It's got just what you need, just in time.
Ronald I. Brent is a Professor of Mathematics at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where he has taught since 1987. He earned his PhD in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Brent is the author of many publications, including three Just-In-Time mathematics texts. His main advice to his calculus students is: “Work on your homework as if your life in this course depends upon it. Because it does!”

I went from "probably going to fail or drop calc" to earning a low A on the first exam because of this book.

I'm 38 and I want to get my MBA, but I didn't take Calc in undergrad and the school I want to attend requires Calc as a prerequisite. I took precalc in undergrad but just didn't get around to Calc I because it wasn't required for my major. So, I'm "the old guy" in my Calc class. After the first dayy of class, I was genuinely concerned that I'd fail and, as a result, not be able to do the MBA program. So much algebra and trig! Serious high school math. Thankfully, I noticed an ad for Just-In-Time Algebra and Trig in the front of my Calc book. I ordered the book from Amazon, did the first several chapters right away and then did a few more chapters here and there over the next few weeks. I just had my first Calc exam last week and guess what? I got a low A on the exam. And I thought I was going to fail!

Well done

I took my first calculus course after not having taken an algebra course in 7 years, and after never taken trig or pre-calc. I would have failed miserably without the help of this easy to read and concise book. I still struggled to survive calculus but this book helped me stay afloat.

Great transaction

The book arrived faster than expected. This is a great book to use as a refresher of concepts that you must have going into Calculus. Not a primary textbook, but a simple crash refresher.
